Our new iTools Manager is ready for testing.
Description:
iTools Manager is an Aqua GUI that enables webmasters to set up
and
configure Apache directly on Apple's Aqua desktop. The new GUI
co-exists
with Tenon's secure, remote, browser-based administration,
enabling
webmasters to seamlessly switch between desktop management and
anytime,
anywhere browser-based control.
Getting Started:
You must have iTools 6.1 installed to use this new iTools Manager. The
iTools Manager will update your browser-based administration server so
that it will work with this new Aqua GUI. Note that you will
have a choice of configuring using the Aqua GUI or using the
traditional browser-based configuration tools.
iTools 6.1 can be downloaded from here:
http://www.tenon.com/products/itools-osx/done.html
Once iTools 6.1 is installed, you may install the iTools Manager.
http://mirror.tenon.com/beta/iToolsManager-6.1a5.tar.gz
Login: beta
Password: beta
Download the iTools Manager and double click the file to uncompress
it.
You will have a multipackage installer that can be used on both
the
server and the client machines. Install the server portion
on your
iTools server and the client portion on any Mac OS X machine that
you
want to use to administer the server.
Once the client is installed, use the File -> Open Server...
menu item
to log in to your iTools server. The server can be located
locally or
remotely as defined by the Remote Server URL. Enter
"localhost" for a
server on the same machine as the iTools Manager or the IP address
or
hostname of a remote iTools server. Enter your normal iTools
admin user
name and password and click the "Login" button. From
there you should
be greeted with a configuration screen displaying the Virtual Hosts
on
your server.
Known Bugs:
None yet. iTools Manager has been tested internally and is
being
submitted as a private beta. Please report any bugs to the
iTools-Beta
Mailing List.
Missing Features:
Currently iTools Manager contains configuration for all Webserver
functions. Future releases will include configuration for:
Mail Server
FTP Server
DNS Server
The iTools Manager will be able to be used with iTools 5.1 as
well, but this first release does not include the necessary updates to
the iTools 5.1 administration server. So, for now, please just
test with iTools 6.1.
