5.1 upgrade with MySql broken

Anyone else have this problem?

Upgraded from 5.019 to 5.1 today and everything went great (after I
installed Jserv) 

Except...

There's a permission problem now in mysql. It is running however (and yes, I
did install the mysql upgrade)

Before I start tinkering with it, I thought I'd query the list to see if I
could save myself some time with the benefit of someone else's experience.
