That error you got, I had it to.  I did the same as you, upgraded from 6 to
6.1.  To 'fix' it, this is what I did:

I noticed that there wasn't a file: /usr/local/squid/bin/unlinkd
So I searched the computer (using terminal app command find) for unlinkd

The find did find it and it was located somewhere else.  So in
/usr/local/squid/bin/ I created a link (alias/shortcut) called unlinkd to
where the unlinkd the find command found.

Did that make sense?
