Re: Fwd: Re: >>> Secure Admin?
Hazlitt,
remember,
If you enable SSL for a virtual host, you will need to also and a
non-SSL virtual host with the same name if you want to access it both
ways.

Addendum: Last night, right after I followed the process below and
sent that message to the list, I quit and relaunched IE and tried to
get back to the web admin, http://www.zada.com/itools_admin and
could no longer gain access, getting the 'attempt to load failed'
dialog. I also noticed that the web site http://www.zada.com/ is now
redirecting to another virtual domain on that server. All other
virtual domains are accessible. I'm going to drive over soon to turn
off the SSL to see if that fixes it. Any insights as to what is
going on would be helpful. :: Hazlitt

I can not seem to get this to work. I have a system with a clean
install of OS X S 10.1.3 with iTools 6.5.1.
I created an iTools-generated temporary certificate. In the
certificate I used the host name and domain name entered into
iTools' "Configure Server Hostname" dialog, in my case "www" and
"zada.com" i.e., "www.zada.com" Then I toggled SSL Security "On"
in the Virtual Host Configuration table and saved the
configuration. I know SSL is now available for the domain because
in the Virtual Host Configuration table it now says "www.zada.com
SSL" with "SSL" in red.
I tried going to https://www.zada.com:85 and it churned for a few
minutes before displaying a dialog that says "A connection failure
has occurred."
Alternately, I try going to https://www.zada.com/itools_admin and
it displays a dialog that says there's a problem with the
certificate (this alert was expected, since I'm using a temporary
certificate), then it displays the first password dialog. I input
the user name and password and then churns for a few minutes before
displaying a dialog that says "The attempt to load 'Accessing URL
https://www.zada.com/itools_admin' failed."
I have no trouble connecting remotely via the non-secure
http://www.zada.com/itools_admin
How do I get the secure admin connection to work?
