Hello everyone,
Im a new iTools user and Im currently trying to migrate from
WebSTAR 4.4 on OS9 to iTools on OSX.
So far everything has gone smoothly.
We're happy to hear this.
My only problem is Sendmail. I cant for my life grasp hwo to modify
Sendmails configuration.
Heres my problem. In WebSTAR I could allow remote users to relay
mail though my server so long as they had logged in to their POP
account within the past 30 mins. I need something like this in
Sendmail. I need to be able to have my users send mail through my
server but I also dont want to provide an open relay for spamers.
Tenon has a new product, Post.Office.

This mail server includes the POP-before-SMTP feature that you used
with WebSTAR mail.
Post.Office is very robust and very easy to set up. If you have
questions about it, just send them to sales@xxxxxxxxxx
I read a page all about Relaying on Sendmail.Org and there are 2
FEATURES that if i could turn them on would solve my problem until
I can find a long term fix.
http://www.sendmail.org/tips/relaying.html
FEATURE(relay_local_from)
FEATURE(rbl)
My question is. How in the world do I get these in the sendmail.cf. I have
read a ton about the M4 method and I still for the life of me
figure out how to
simply modify an existing sendmail.cf file instead of recreating one from
scratch. Is there a way to do it? Anyone have any suggestions? If I have to
recreate the file, are there any settings in the sendmail.cf I already have
that I will loose. (Does iTools set anything in the sendmail.cf that I would
have to setup again?
Cody, setting things up in sendmail for the most part does require
hand-editing of the not-so-easy-to-decipher sendmail configuration
files. We will have tech support take a look at your issues on
Tuesday (we are actually closed today for "President's Day").
However I strongly suggest taking a look at Post.Office.
You can use Post.Office and iTools on the same Mac OS X machine and
the pricing is very reasonable.
