ftp: Login failed.

Still can't login... The user is visible in iTools Admin and even with
niutil -read . /users/johannes
I get the info that the user exists:

[vail:~] root# niutil -read . /users/johannes
name: johannes
passwd: xxxxxxx (changed for security reasons)
uid: 505
gid: 32
class:
change: 0
realname: iTools FTP account
home: /Library/WebServer/
shell: /sbin/nologin
expire: 0

Even after a reboot nothing happened. I've checked
/etc/shells with pico and found the entry
/sbin/nologin

therefore your command was executed as desired, but didn't help..
any further ideas?

PS: Where are the good times of MacOS X Server 1.2v3 and iTools 5... 
(luckily our main webserver still runs iTools 5... never had problems 
like that there... (only one CGI thing last summer)
