Dan,
You meant "SELECT" instead of "SLECT", right?
The error that you experienced below "Can't connect to local MySQL..."
typically occurs when the MySQL server is not running but access is
attempted.
Make sure that the MySQL is running by checking the Process Viewer or "ps
ax |grep mysql" on the command line.
If MySQL is not running, use the "safe_mysqld" command to start it.
