iTools
I'm wondering if most users on this list are happy with iTools DNS tool vs.
using something else like QuickDNS. Recommendations?
I would say it depends on how many domains or records you have and
how often they change. If the answer is quite a few then QDNS is much
quicker and easier.
We run QDNS on OS 9 and have no reason or plan to change at the
moment. The OS X version doesn't have the load balancing feature. The
OS X version is also based on an older version of BIND that doesn't
quite comply with the RFCs and caused a bit of a problem with some of
our domains and the way they are set up.
The manager (which I do run on my OS X machine) connects to all your
DNS servers at the same time and automatically creates the secondary
records. Features like the assistant that can clone an existing zone
also save a lot of time and effort.
The iTools DNS is again based on BIND and therefore basically the
same, it's just the interface that's a bit more clunky.
