Re: Changing the admin password - help!
This happened to me twice. I always could connect by ssh as root and
reset the admin (group wheel)
password by command line.
No glue what to do when this was your root user.

Due to a bug in Netscape, my administrator name and password was
accidentally distributed on a mailing list. Therefore, I tried changing
the admin password using the iTools web interface, simply by changing
the password on the Users page, and then by using the iTools
application's "Set Admin Password" menu item, followed by a restart of
the computer.
This resulted in very weird behaviour. I can no longer log in locally as
the admin user - both the new and the old password is rejected.
(Resetting the password to the old one makes it possible to log in
again.) Also, the authentication for realms to which the admin had
access is also screwed up in the same way. The iTools Manager
application behaves in the same way.
Why doesn't this work, why aren't there any instructions anywhere on how
to proceed if one wants to change the admin password, and what should I do?
