Dumping OSXS for OSX - Clean Install?
My iTools box is currently running OS X Server 10.1.5. When I get my OS X 10.2,
I'm considering switching this box to plain OS X, not the server version. It
seems like many more people are running iTools on the non-server version and
can't relate to the Server OS quirks and such.
So, the question arises: Does anyone know if this will require a "clean
install"?
Ideally, I'd install Jaguar over OSXS and downgrade it from server to plain OS
X. Would that be asking for trouble? Would left-over "server" gizmos wreak
havoc?
Plan B would be to back up all iTools config files, format, Install Jaguar and
the then-current iTools, then restore the iTools config files. Would that work?
Tenon, are the iTools config files going to all be in the same format and
stored in the same place(s) under Jaguar as they are now?
Does anyone have a comprehensive list of where iTools stores everything? I
don't suppose everything is all tidy and nice, in the same directory or some
such.
Perhaps we should turn this into a "Backing Up iTools" thread and develop a
list of where everything is stored.
Of course, there are lots of non-iTools settings that would have to be backed
up and restored as well.
So, if I go the Clean Install route, what settings will I have to back up and
restore? Anyone?
