Weird problem with httpd.conf save
Hi again,
Last night, I was looking at my friend's iTools 6.5.7 machine
(OSX 10.2.5 client) I have been helping out with & I was going to
re-order the httpd.conf file for him so that the default virtual host
was the initial one he set up (rather than the last one added).
So, in the terminal, I did a cp httpd.conf httpd.conf.save25april2003
Literally 2 minutes later, I got a phone call, asking what I
had broken, as every virtual host called up was being served out of
the same directory.
Now, I went in & did apachectl configtest - which resulted in
Syntax OK. I then loaded the httpd.conf file up in Pico - literally
craweled through each line, paying particular attention to the
Virtual Hosts section - everything looked fine - I went to the iTools
admin - everything looked fine, the documentroot attribute of each
directory looked fine as well, with each one pointing at it's correct
directory.
Again from the terminal, I did an apachectl configtest, which
again showed syntax OK - I also did apachectl flushcache - did a
reboot of the machine, but nothing helped.
Now, the owner of the machine then tried switching a whole
bunch of the httpd.conf files we had saves & one of them brought it
back to normal.
Has anyone else seen the same symptoms & if so, what was it &
how did you fix it. I have never seen this behaviour before on any
other machine - it happened a week or so back too, but under
different corcumstances while setting up virtual hosts in the first
place.

Bye for now, Terry Allen
