Thank you, I will see what I can do with this advice. FYI, Apple swears up and down that lukemftpd is not installed with OS X Server, only the client. They use wu-ftp on Server since Jaguar. They used to use lukemftpd with server 10.1.5... So I have no idea how I got lukemftpd if it's not from Tenon or Apple, but that is what the connection reports the server as.

Hi,

lukemftpd is supplied by Apple. Sometimes, it's possible that System Preference says File Sharing is off, but FTP is actually enabled on your system. There are two method to make sure that they are synchronized.

1: Disable FTP and then enable FTP again in System Preference a few times. The System Preference will eventually have the FTP startup script modified to synchronize with the GUI.

2. Comment out FTP lines from /etc/inetd.conf or move FTP file from /etc/xinetd.d to another folder. This ensure the FTP is disabled and try to enable it again from System Preference.

On the side note, iTools 6.5.x uses wu-ftp. Therefore, iTools should already be removed cleanly.

Eric

Hello,

I had installed Tenon iTools 6.x (the last version) on an XServe running 10.2.6 Server, then uninstalled it using the script provided by tenon. Now, another FTP server I installed is reporting that port 21 is being used and it can't initialize. However when I try to FTP to the server, a server called lukemftpd allows me to connect.

I am aware that Apple OS X Server 10.2.6 includes lukemftpd and Apple is working w/me to see, IF this is their server, then why it is still running though the GUI says it isn't.

Question for Tenon: Does iTools also install lukemftpd, and if so, does your uninstall script actually remove it?

Thanks.
Karl
