To set the sticky bit for a directory.
% cd /path_to_dirname
% chmod u+t dirname
% ls -ald (to check, notice the 't' at the end)
drwxr-xr-t
to clear the sticky bit
% chmod u-t dirname
% ls -ald
drwxr-xr-x
