Did you modify the "Access Control" section for that folder? If you modified it, what does it look like?

I just had a user upload a new index.html into their website and now it won't display their index.html either.

1. index.html is listed in the directory index.
2. index.html works in all other folders and subfolders of this domain except for the primary one which is the reason I first contacted this list, this occurred after an upload of the new index.html for me also.
3. Owners & groups and permissions are all the same as the other ones.
4. I have installed the latest updates already of Itools7
5. the index.html file works because I can call it directly.
6. I know the below error message sounds link I don't have the webserver configured to answer for index.html, but I do, and I reiterate, it works in other subdirectories.

The error log is reporting : Directory index is forbidden by rule

the common factor seems to be newly uploaded index.html files since a recent unknown date in the past. the operating system has NOT been updated since originally installed, however I have done all the Itools7 updates, including the one that fudged the server that was posted accidentally.

You can put multiple filenames in "Directory Index" to make iTools be aware of the index file. Hope this helps.

I just spent the last hour trying to fix itools7 on mac os x 10.2.6.

All I did was physically reboot the computer from a nice working configuration and the only virtual domain I have configured on this computer suddently displayed that I don't have permission to view.

I downloaded and installed latest version to see if I could overwrite change files. No Go
I ran disk permissions fixer off disk utility. No Go
I verified that owners and groups were what I expected, they were the same for other files and folders in the same directory. www owner, admin guest. Then I noticed that I could call up anyting BUT index.html. I set the homepage to blah.html and blah.html came up just fine. I compared the 2 files and they were exact in permissions. I can call up pictures, other webpages, folders with an index.html as the default page and I can even call index.html if I call it directly. But it won't display as the initial home page unless I add the /index.html to my domain name.

I duplicated the file and renamed index.htm and then set index.htm as the default document and it works. Re-doing it all back to index.html won't work. I'm up right now with .htm as the default document, but need to go back to .html as I have other sites and pages linking back to .html. these work because you can call .html directly, but I don't want to have to update 2 pages everytime I make a change.

Any ideas?
