I set it up as a test on my beige g3 233 mhz with 256 ram and it serves fine (while up). I only serve one virtual domain. I do run into problems whenever I reboot though, it seems every 3 of 4 times I've had to jump on the machine and fix something in itools to make it run again. It's running 10.2.6. This weekend I had a problem where the user and I could not get the cache to release, it kept serving the old page no matter what. I turned off cache and it stopped serving. turning cache back on via itools manager did not fix it either.

I uninstalled (which by the way did not delete my virtual host directories (yea!!! I did back it up in case)), and reinstalled and the server booted up just fine. I did have to re-enter ftp users but it recognized that I had a virtual host setup, but I did have to re-specify the path for the documents to be served.

So far the new install has been fine and survived a reboot unlike the previous install did.

It is recommended. If you plan to host multiple virtual hosts, then it's better to have a G4 machine to archive good response time. Hope this helps.

OK, so it's not somehow tied to the G4 processor family. I'm willing to risk trying it on a lowly 600 MHz G3.

I just went to download iTools 7.0.1 and noted the statement that it requires a G4 400MHz or above. Does it really require a G4?
