If you wish to manipulate files in Finder, then you can change /Library/Tenon/WebServer/WebSites to be owned by the admin user. There is no need to login as root. The default permission is only to keep the system as secure as possible.


I can see the contents of the directories, it's just that under the
ownership pop-up menu (in Get Info) there's no "www" user in the list so the
pop-up's current selection is blank. This issue is probably related to...

Now I understand what you meant. However, it works fine in my Finder. The www user is listed in the pop up. You might want to check you have www user on your system.
