Re: Installing iTools 7 (from WebTen)

Does the machine running iTools need to be logged in as root? I do not have

Root will give you full privileges to read/write in /Library/Tenon directories.
If you login with other users, then you will have read access to
/Library/Tenon directories only.
Directories owned by "www" show in the Finder (through the permissions
pop-up in a Get Info window) as a blank entry. Is this normal?
Yes, this is normal. You don't own the files, and that's why they
pop up as blank directories. If you use Command-I to change the
ownership of the folder, then you can see the directory content.
However, we don't recommend you to do that because wrong permission
might cause the system to stop working.
Directories owned by the logged-in admin user show as random Chinese
characters, sometimes mixed with a few English characters of the admin name
when viewed in the Finder. This is *not* normal.
Is it time to wipe the drive and start over?
It's best to start over.
Also, I'm trying to move files from the old server based upon merging the
info contained in "iTools 6 transition information" (from WebTen to iTools
6) and the "iTools Transition Guide" (from Apache to iTools 7) documents
(since there's no WebTen to iTools 7 guide I could find). Do virtual hosts
really need to be separate files Included in vhosts.conf or can they still
be VirtualHost directives in httpd.conf?
If you copy your httpd.conf to /etc/httpd directory before
installation, then iTools 7 installer will parse the format for you,
so you don't have to worry about hand coding this manually.
regards,
Eric
