Can itools7 handle this SSL Trick?
This is a question I posted to a support forum website that uses php/mysql
software. See the response from Ed
below.
How do you recommend doing this in itools7?
thanks,

QUESTION POST STARTS HERE
If I have a site at say
http://www.mydomain.com/index.php
Can I do the SSL part at the name server domain which has SSL
https://www.ssldomain.com/mydomain
for example?
The idea being the nameserver has an SSL cert that many different domain names
can use for the SSL part of the transaction.
How can one string out the credit card capture to actually take place at a
different domain name than the website domain name (ie mydomain.com)?
What files need to stay and what files need to be moved?
When you pull up the website "www.mydomain.com " does the URL header stay the
same but only change to "https://www.ssldomain.com/mydomain"
at checkout?

RESPONSE from Ed Holtzman,
Exactly, its all on the regular URL until it gets to the checkout point where
it asks for personal details, at which time it automatically
switches to the HTTPS URL equivelents.
The location on "https://www.ssldomain.com/mydomain" is a virtual folder that
points to the files/folders on the regular hosting. For example
if I upload www.mydomain.com/newfile.htm , it is instantly and automatically
available as https://www.ssldomain.com/mydomain/newfile.htm
Here is how I have one site setup with a shared SSL through my host. My SSL
adress is just a virtual folder on their secure server. My domain
would be www.mydomain.com. My 'pathtossl' is set to
https://www.ssldomain.com/mydomain. No files had to be moved, after I was
granted the shared
SSL through my host, they gave me the secure URL to use and I just enter that.
Works great.
