Re: some iTools 7 questions...

1. Did you change FTP servers? A few of my current clients complain about
horrible performance when uploading many small files. I was hoping that the
upgrade would fix that and make them happy.
ProFTP is light weight compare to wu-ftpd. It's also more secure.
(The main reason we changed from wu-ftpd to ProFTP. However
uploading performance might dpened on system configuration.
2. Does the "User" page load 20 times faster than in iTools 6.5?
On my current
server that page is nearly unusable now...
iTools 6.5 list all users on the same page and the nested table might
take a long time to render. iTools 7 displays only one user per
page. Therefore, it is very fast, but it also generate more clicks
for changing existing users. The reduced rendering time should makke
the software more usable.
3. Do iTools FTP users still depend on Apple's NetInfo database? I hope not.
Unfortunately, FTP users are still depending on Apple's NetInfo database.
4. Is there any easy way to use iTools 7 to cluster 2 or more web servers?
If you have a load balancer, then it's possible to host the same
contents on multiple webserver via NFS, and iTools 7 will serve the
pages as usual.
5. Are disk usage quotas available?
Disk Quotas management is part of iTools 7.1.
regards,
Eric
