Re: Installing Perl 5.8 - recompiling perl_mod
Hi,
I got the instruction straight from Modperl website. Here is the
instruction that actually works:
perl Makefile.PL APACHE_SRC=../apache_1.3.27/src DO_HTTPD=1 USE_DSO=1
USE_APSX=1 WITH_APXS=/usr/sbin/apxs EVERYTHING=1
After make, the file will be located in
apache_1.3.27/src/modules/perl/libperl.so
Sorry about the wrong instructions.
regards,
Eric

No luck - the compile is completely successful, no error messages,
make test completes without errors - but there is still no
libperl.so anywhere on the computer except the old one under
/usr/libexec/httpd.
Are you sure the procedure is correct? I'll send you the console
transcript separately.

I found the sources for Apache 1.3.27 as advised, and mod_perl
1.28. Are you sure you didn't mean mod_perl 2.xx?
mod_perl 2.xx is for Apache 2. Let's back track the compiling procedure.
perl Makefile.PL APACHE_SRC=../apache_1.3.xx/src \
DO_HTTPD=1 USE_APACI=1 EVERYTHING=1
Instead of "make && make test && make install", just run "make".
You are correct, the file name should be libphp.so. If the compile
was successful, then you would have libperl.so somewhere in the
mod_perl-1.xx directory. Please read the compiling messages, maybe
there was an error somewhere.

Eric

Pick out the mod_perl.so and copy to /usr/libexec/httpd
