Yeah, I've heard that it does hamper server performance. Looks like
you can set DNSlookups = 1 in the awestats config for that particular
domain which make awestats do the lookup. This should be the default,
but how do I make it the default for all domains? Would be a mission
to have to do this for each vhost that is created.
What are your thoughts.

There's this line in /etc/httpd/httpd.conf:
HostnameLookups Off
Just make it:
HostnameLookups On
I've never turned on HostnameLookups because the performance hit is
significant but It couldn't hurt much if your sites aren't really busy.
