Hi there,

You should run the following commands to get your system restored with www user, reinstall the iTools package will not restore www user.

sudo niutil -create . /users/www
sudo niutil -createprop . /users/www uid 70
sudo niutil -createprop . /users/www gid 70
sudo niutil -createprop . /users/www home /Library/WebServer
sudo niutil -createprop . /users/www shell /noshell

What if I have already created a www user in the OSXS gui?

I am not sure how you lost your www user, but it's best to check if your system security has been compromised.

I believe I deleted it in the iTools users admin trying to sort out the permissions thing. [Should iTools allow this maneuver if it hoses you?]

Thanks,
-Chris

regards,
Eric

I haven't done an update since 10.2.3, so I'm now prepping for a
total upgrade - Panther [client], iTools 7, webdna [5?]. Hopefully
this will take care of a bunch of issues like the permissions.... and
hopefully, the upgrade won't cause more problems than I have now.
