Re: [iT6.5]Ownership/permissions nightmare
I use super get info from bare bones (makers of bbedit) to select
the folder, change the owner to their ftp username, the guest to
ftpguest. click on the buttons that make it save the permissions
for all files and folders within. You'll then have to adjust the
cgi folder if you let them have their own in that directory.
Same here...
Now all the files are owned by them and can be edited/accessed. Any
new files uploaded will have the proper permissions.
....until they upload again. :-/

The basic problem is that clients can't access their own files
uploaded via ftp... The files seem to go up as 664 root/ftpguest [and
it varies sometimes]. I've created various groups, and added clients
to the groups... I found nothing useful in the archives - nothing
seems to help.
Any suggestions before I loose the client?

Apple tells me this is due to a corruption in the netinfo database be
very careful with rebuilding this as many tenon products seem to have
users in this database that can become lost and cause numerous problems.
Many of changes that Itools make in the way that osX works are not fully
understood by all Apple field engineers and this can aslo cause trouble
shooting issues with Apple. my two cents from past experience costs you
nothing and thats what it's worth.
