Okay let's say directory with its own subdirectories of pages has been
removed from my site and any queries for that topic need to be directed
to another web site and domain. I want to redirect not only requests
for the main directory for that topic, but also any direct links that
people might have saved as bookmarks. i.e. i need to redirect
mysite.com/oldtopic/ and mysite.com/oldtopic/oldpage.html as well. I
would -assume- you could put in:
URL Path: /oldtopic/ Destination URL: http://www.othersite.com/
This works, but -only- if the person hitting my web site goes exactly
to http://www.mysite.com/oldtopic/
If they hit a bookmark and try to go to
mysite.com/oldtopic/oldpage.html, the server tries to redirect them to
http://www.othersite.com/oldpage.html, which is not what i want, they
need to be directed to the root of othersite.com.
So is there some sort of wildcard I can use when defining these
redirects? Something like:
URL Path: /oldtopic/* Destination URL: http://www.othersite.com/
???
