So, let me get this straight...

On my iTools 7 server, virtual host directories and all
sub-files/directories should be owned as: www:www

...and...

All FTP users should be members of the www group.

Correct?

I don't think this setup allowed my users to upload files. I had to make
their FTP home directory owned by them rather than www.
