Yes, going to /index.html in whatever directory they are having trouble reaching does work and clears it up for them. BUT, you can't tell places like google search engines to just go to the index page.

Proxy is and has been off, Cache settings are as iTools default. Are you referring to the Accelerator Cache? Disk Cache? I'm wary of making changes here since I don't know the effects. Tenon helpl? I don't mind trying different things to find a solution, guide my hand!

I had the same problem with the machine reacting to a Squid Proxy/Cache that we have on our network.

 

Turning off the proxy and Cache in  itools and it fixed it for me..
