Some of our machines are nat'd but all of the important ones are static inside/outside the firewall. I'll try shutting off the cache... which one though, accelerator or disk cache?

We are looking at this issue. For now, the issue seems to be Caching related. We recommend the users to disable the cache to avoid this problem. On the side note, are you guys all running from a NAT environment?

I have turned the accelerator cash off, so I hope this helps...
If Tenon could look into this, it would great!

Yes, going to /index.html in whatever directory they are having trouble reaching does work and clears it up for them. BUT, you can't tell places like google search engines to just go to the index page.
Proxy is and has been off, Cache settings are as iTools default. Are you referring to the Accelerator Cache? Disk Cache? I'm wary of making changes here since I don't know the effects. Tenon helpl? I don't mind trying different things to find a solution, guide my hand!

If you hit the site and manually put in the index page after the url it should come up..
I had the same problem with the machine reacting to a Squid Proxy/Cache that we have on our network.
Turning off the proxy and Cache in itools and it fixed it for me..

THANK GOD somebody else is getting this. I too have been seeing this error in the logs and getting complaints from random customers.
[Thu Apr 29 07:19:23 2004] [error] [client 80.11.144.82] Directory index forbidden by rule: /(site root path)
This has been going on for over a week on my site and appears to actually be getting worse. Any info on this from anyone with even half (or less) of a clue would be appreciated.

Hi all,
I have been getting a number of reports over the last couple of months that users can't access our clients sites. The error they get is.
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Apache/2.0.49 (Unix) DAV/2 mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 PHP/4.3.6 mod_ssl/2.0.49 OpenSSL/0.9.6i Server at www.solowings.co.za Port 80
When I checked the error logs it shows the error when pointing to the root directory of the virtual host. This is the error I get in the log.
Directory index forbidden by rule: /Library/Tenon/WebServer/WebSites/solowings.co.za/
I don't have any access controls on this virtual host and I have all the default index pages. I have never actually seen it myself. The only way I replicate it is if I put the https: in front of the domain. The default index pages
index.html index.html.var index.php default.php index.htm default.htm default.html
Any help is appreciated...
Tim
