Re: More on ftp/Tiger problem
Proftpd checks what shell a user is assigned, and makes sure it is a
valid shell in on the system (exists in the /etc/shells file). The
problem is that Apple's OS X installer replaces that file with the
default, so installing OS X after installing iTools will make it so
that iTools ftp users can no longer login. The noshell executable
simply exits so that if an ftp user tries to get in through the shell
they will not be able to even though they have a valid shell set. An
alternative to adding that shell may be to add the following line to
your proftpd.conf file:
RequireValidShell off
Which would disable that check.

Thanks, that fixed the ftp problem. Care to explain what this is about?
