...like what?
There may be legacy applications that only have Apache 1.x modules,
but I'm not aware of things that you can do with Apache 1 that are no
longer supported in Apache 2.

But yes, I do think 2.* is
faster...over all, and everything else being the same.
Oh, and the default apple server install uses apache 1.*, not 2.*.
Version 2 is included, but is not configured. The server tools configures
version 1.*. In order to use version 2, you have to configure it manualy,
Actually, with Tiger, you have to do more than manually configure.
You have to recompile Apache 2 because the Apache 2 that Apple
shipped has a bug that limits file downloads to 64K.
This Tiger Apache 2 bug may be what is making you think that you can
do more things with Apache 1 than with Apache 2. Is that the case?
then the server admin for apache is toasted. Same thing with using webmin.
Webmin is great for everything _but_ apache.
But again, I'm not bashing iTools version of apache. I haven't used it. I'm
just speaking on the supplied apple apache on client vs. server. (both on
the same hardware and same spects.)
But again, your test doesn't sound like a real world test...
In web server benchmarking, it's very hard to do real-world tests,
becuase in practice everyone has different back-end, often
platform-specific, processing that affects performance, but can't be
compared across platforms. So most web benchmarks, even in major
magazine reviews, are usually based on Apache bench style tests --
repeated requests for files of varying sizes.
Do you have suggestions for web server testing or models you can point us to?
