Anita,

Thanks so much for the reply. I will proceed.

I have recently had major problems with my backup software, Retrospect, and a very expensive VXA Firewire tape drive. Retrospect started quitting the backup process, claiming it didn't have enough memory. On a 1 gigabyte dual G5 machine, this seemed ridiculous. But I purchased two more gigabytes of matched, guaranteed, high-speed ram and got the same result. Retrospect claimed I should pull the original Apple RAM even though I have had no other trouble with the machine, except for Retrospect. I felt that was ridiculous.

if anyone has better backup software that will run a VXA tape drive, please chime in.

Thanks,

Blaine

Hello all,

Ran into trouble with my iTools 7 install overnight. It's claiming it can't load the mod.so.fastcgi module for unknown reasons.

I am trying to reinstall iTools 7 but it is hanging just before the end. Install log says that "separation of a user and group with a period is depreciated" whatever that means.

I tried to install iTools 8 over it and when it comes to the install window, I don't get an UPGRADE choice, only INSTALL. I seem to remember "upgrade" being available before.

Somebody with prior experience, please help me out here. I'm afraid I will nuke the entire web system that I have going here with 40 plus domains, several hundred users, etc. I'm somewhat petrified at the moment.

Blaine, an iTools 8 install over iTools 7 will in fact UPGRADE (retain your settings), even though it doesn't say "UPGRADE"....it will just say INSTALL.

Of course it's a good idea to have a back up when you do a major upgrade. But you'll be fine with going to iTools 8.

Thanks,

Blaine
