Images not served properly

Installed iTools 8 over 7.x last night and SOME sites no longer show images:


All indications are that the images ARE being served and loaded into the 
browser (no broken image icons) but the images do not show!

Trying to open an image directly -- full path -- loads the image's text 
instead: GIF89a?
